To the schools I have attended: Olivet College, Hope College, Wayne State University, Grand Valley State University, Calvin Seminary, and Western Theological Seminary, I urge you to step up and add your support to the movement for reform of this critical social problem. Without immediate relief, many gifted, qualified students will not be able to find their place in society and make the contributions we all need so desperately for a better future. Returning student debt to the same status as any other obligation is crucial to counter the excesses and abusses of the past. Rejecting the temptation of exploiting the student loan market with exhorbinant interest rates is right and decent. Join the fight for student loan reform.
