To the uninformed observer it could appear that our councillors think they are sitting in Canberra or Maquarrie St, rather than in Elizabeth St Moss Vale in a small regional LGA. It might be of keen interest to a small number of council watchers, unsuccessful or hopeful candidates, but the vast majority of Highlanders just dont care. Look at the lack of comments on articles like this. All that does get noticed is seemingly endless petty bickering, one-up manship, controlling behaviour and what looks like personal agendas and vendettas. People want and need an invisible council who simply deals with our communal best interests, to get the shires roads, parks, developments and facilities operating smoothly and efficiently. We DONT need personalities jostling for small pond power, and placing their own needs above the regions. And whether thats true or not councillors, thats how it looks - and appearances are everything. Might be worth thinking about now if you have hopes of being re-elected in two years.
