To those concerned about the lack of sirens warning of last nights severe storm in Hemphill County: A tornado watch was issued very early yesterday by the National Weather Service. At 9:52 pm, the NWS issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Hemphill County for heavy rain, strong winds and some rotational activity, though no tornados were reported at that time. Because no tornado warning was issued, the sirens in Hemphill County were not sounded. Thank you for the clarification of these procedures, Chris and Andy Ford.
