To whom it may concern at Target Target is offering a one year - TopicsExpress

To whom it may concern at Target Target is offering a one year free credit monitoring and identity theft protection through Experian for compromising customer credit card information. Is this a legitimate offer from Target, or yet another attack from cyber criminals? The email I received for the Experian activation code did not come from Target, but from target.bfi0. The registration website is not Experian but protectmyid. After doing some research, the offer seems to be genuine (see forbes/sites/jameslyne/2014/01/07/targets-latest-failure-and-how-to-spot-a-scam/). Is this an attempt by Target to make it seem that the company is helping, yet hoping for customers NOT to sign up for this free offer? It seems like it is either an intentional disgusting effort to save the company money, or a sincere gesture that was terribly mishandled. In any case, you have managed to aggravate customers like me (suspicious and wasted time to authenticate these domains), and potentially trained other customers to trust future email scams against your company name!
