To yall in my feed sharing or discussing this, lets be clear: if a single study was able to prove or confirm anything, eating eggs would cause autism and petting cats would cause diabetes. The results SUGGEST red meat is linked to cancer, but as happens whenever the media gets hold of a scientific paper - shit be summarised and abbreviated and condensed and clickbait worthy deductions are made into a headline. The sugar theyre talking about in red meat that humans cant digest? The author of the paper and his wife are co-founders of a firm that produce all sorts of chemicals related to it, inhibiting its effects, etc. It doesnt render any of this as complete bullshit, but it should definitely raise suspicion as to the ulterior motives for them to draw this link. That and the fact that epidemiological studies on animals and cancer rates are nowhere near as thorough as those on humans - so the comparison of our cancer rates vs. theirs isnt the easiest thing to make. In the words of the author himself “The final proof in humans will be much harder to come by.” Long story short - dont blame Dietitians for changing minds on eggs and their health benefits and the like for the last 10 years. Blame bullshit artist journalists who take one paper and pretend its the new gospel. By definition, science will always produce different papers with conflicting end results. But the media knows we just wouldnt click on astrophysics articles day in and day out. -end rant-
