Today 15 march 2014 punjab Agriculture Minister Sucha Singh Langah today said as many as 173 ao agriculture officers 470 Agriculture Development Officers (ADO’s) and Agriculture 1100 sub inspector 1132 asi will be recruited soon to revamp the functioning of the department. The vacant posts in Horticulture and Soil Conservation Departments will be filled soon to broadbase farm operations in the state so that the farmers were given improved extension education and training to adopt latest techniques to augment to their economy. Addressing a gathering of farmers at a Kisan Mela here, Langah said the state government has already released funds to set up an Agriculture Degree college at Punjab Agricultural University Regional Centre here and a modern training centre for imparting training to farmers will be set up at Sohal village near here. The farmers are advised to take to crop diversification and adopt cash crops for cultivation to improve their economy, he said adding that there were many schemes to provide them subsidy to purchase farm machinery.
