Today (30 November 2014) we celebrate the First Sunday of Advent - TopicsExpress

Today (30 November 2014) we celebrate the First Sunday of Advent (a season of anticipation and preparation), the birth of Andres Bonifacio, a national hero whose revolution he helped ignite devoured him and his brother and the Feast of St. Andrew the Apostle whose evangelizing zeal resulted in his martyrdom. What do these events and the stories of the personages associated with them have in common? Taken together they constitute a common narrative of hoping amidst despair, rehearsing the anticipated tomorrow while being caught up in the stuckness of today, straining after a bright future even if the darkness of the present seems to reduce it to wishful thinking and laboring in the night and dying without seeing the dawn. But such is the power of Hope, the daring of Faith and the invincibility of Love! Such, to my weary heart, is the Promise of Advent! A BLESSED ADVENT TO ALL!
