Today Americas Chief Spy John Brennen furthered the effort to justify, rationalize, and enable the actions of the architects and perpetrators of torture. Mr. Brennen said, Whatever your views are on EITs, our nation and in particular this agency did a lot of things right to keep this country strong and secure... We might then ask ourselves, what would be prohibited if these are the kinds of actions that can be deemed useful in keeping our country safe? Mr. Brennens meme is, once again, the spy-speak euphemism EITs (enhanced interrogation technique-): the real word, as you know, is torture. Whatever your views...? Theres more than one view that torture is justifiable? What else do we need to accept to keep this country safe and secure? I am ashamed that this man serves this President and disappointed he has not been fired, if not for nothing more than crass insubordination and outright dissimulation. Dissimulation is a fancy word for lying. Again. As usual. Russell Brands commentary on this use of the media, especially Fox News coverage of the Senate Committees torture report, addresses concerns Edward Snowden also raises when Mr. Snowden asks rhetorically, “If we can run a rendition, a kidnapping, a detention program, a torture program, keep it secret for years, and then when it is revealed, hold no one to account, what does this mean for the future direction of our society?” Here is what Mr. Brand had to say: https://youtube/watch?v=onlNtqKrAE0#t=99
