Today Ava had her 6 month evaluation for the early development program. I definitely feel better about the program and what it means to set goals for Ava. We added several new goals to her year end plan which include more verbalization and gestures like waving goodbye and clapping hands. Currently she is only at about a 4month old in the verbal area. We also added sitting in the upright position unsupported for 1 minute and reaching for and feeding herself age appropriate foods. My OT also requested Ava get an educator to work with her which I was pretty happy about. I remember going to her initial evaluation at about 1 month old and being overwhelmed and still in a diagnosis fog. I had no idea what I was doing. Its been 6 months and I have a better handle on what Ava is entitled to and what she needs, but it is on-going and still overwhelming at times when I give myself a moment to think about it all.I am grateful for Avas OT she has helped me so much. Thank goodness we have another year with her until we have to relocate for the Army.
