Today I am reminded of a strange interaction that took place by chance, very briefly and had a big impact on me. Randomly on the streets of Glasgow two years ago I saw a piper, standing in the sun. He seemed to be enjoying the weather. I went over and spoke to him and asked if I could take his picture. He agreed and we got talking and I told him I would send them to him when I got them processed I popped some online on my photography page and he managed to see them. A year later after this chance encounter I was contacted by the pipers mother, asking who I was and how I knew the piper and how I had taken a picture of him. Sadly she informed me that he had died, a man younger than me, a life cut short. But she was happy that I caught him happy, standing in the sun and that we got to meet. This brief encounter met me with some strong emotions and a set of events that I could have missed. I am glad I met the piper, but sad to know that he is gone. I could have not bothered and missed all of this and walked on by. Another reason that I love my camera. Another reason to just talk to people. You never know where it will lead or how people will appreciate it.
