Today I had the pleasure of being deposed as an Expert Witness in an animal industry related court case. The case relates to local government ordinances that were hastily enacted, and are now being challenged. I cannot say what was said, as it is ongoing and I dont want to create issues for either parties. It relates But I was amazed at the questions I was asked. The lack of knowledge by officials when making laws is profound. The extrapolation of data to prove their case, when the data collection and substance is not only arbitrary by complete nonsense. The conclusions that were arrived at, and how they were determined boggles the mind. Those that know me, know me to be fair and straight forward. But if you present me with BS, and draw conclusions from that, I will certainly question your motives, as well as the source data and means of collection. I am sure I stepped on a few toes, but you know what; its time for people to step up and smell the roses. Time will tell if any good comes of this. I learned a lot from my 4 hour, 30 min deposition. I learned I really remain calm under ridiculously stupid questioning. I learned that people truly need an education in life - think outside the box! I learned that some of the animal experts out there need to stop believing their own drivel, and actually do some real research, facts and figures. I learned that Facebook is a great response to questions. (Q: How did you find out about.... A: Facebook) Finally, I learned I can talk for over four hours, and not curse once (my greatest weakness) - My Mom would have been proud!
