Today I honor my wonderful mother Millie Chapman Burke. Her faith, unconditional love, and strong work ethic have had a huge impact on the person I have become. She has dedicated her life to education and spends long hours that many of you do not know about not only preparing her lessons for her students but also mentoring students when their lives takes unexpected turns. She has done so for me as well Whether it was making sure that my toys had educational value as a young child, making me sing the preamble to the constitution as an 8th grader, or sending me a pizza as I studied for finals in college, she always made sure that I put the pursuit of knowledge high in my priorities. She has always made sure that she puts God first, and she is not ashamed to share her faith with others. We pray before every meal and do not exempt this practice in public settings. She is the first person I turn to when times get tough, and she is the first person I call when something great happens to me as well. I love you mom!!!! Happy Birthday!!!
