Today I met a man who was in the Battle Of the Bulge under General - TopicsExpress

Today I met a man who was in the Battle Of the Bulge under General Patton in WW II. One of the crucial battles what determined the later outcome of this war. This meeting made me step back in memory. I for one believe that this man and his comrades is responsible for I being here on this earth and live in freedom like we seem to accept as normal in our ignorance. Today I remember all the stories my dad told me about the war and his adventures during it. At the end of the war when the liberators approached my hometown and set up their howitzers to start shelling the town, my dad donned his boy scout uniform and went on a wild bicycle ride to meet them ten miles from town. He was led to the commander to whom he could report that all germans fled the city and shelling wasnt needed. So he saved the town and the allies could march on and ride into town. Just one story of the many :) Ill save you all the other anecdotes. I couldnt write all this if it wasnt for the American Vets. I would simply not be here! (Normal procedure for the germans was to shoot any resistance member on sight or take them to Germany to work in factories or camps) Its an awesome experience to be a naturalized US citizen. Just be family with these great guys who liberated my family once is a great honor to me. I feel confident so many more immigrants feel this way. I know I do. Thank you for saving my life and thank you for giving yours. May we always remember you. Not only this day but every day.
