Today, I met with a middle-aged China-based couple who are my former high school classmates. We had flat rice noodles (客家板條) -- a tasty Hakka speciality popular in Taiwan -- and other Hakka food at an inexpensive eatery without air conditioning but with hard-blowing fans. So, all of us were wiping sweat from our brows as we made pigs of ourselves and talked a lot about days gone by. After that, we talked over tea under tall verdant trees near their old mansion -- a building with an interesting family story. Wow, it was really cool being under the trees. The wife asked me for another meeting in 20 years. At that time, we are all old and we can talk about what has happened today, she noted. What a romantic lady!
