Today I saw a perfect example of conservative faulty logic. A - TopicsExpress

Today I saw a perfect example of conservative faulty logic. A bumper sticker I witnessed said something like A gallon of gas cost 1.85 on Obamas first day in office. The implication here being that gas prices were low before Obama, but high now. Without even venturing into the realm of correlation versus causation, I can dismantle the underlying opinion by asking one simple question: how much did gas cost 6 months before Obama took office? The answer: between $4 and $4.50 in my area. Prices fell sharply and quickly in the months leading up to the election, but the low number they attained was not typical of the pre-Obama era. Thus, under Obama, gas prices have FALLEN, not risen. Republicans use atrociously fallacious reasoning like this every day in a desperate attempt to find something major to criticize Obama for. Im personally not the biggest Obama fan, but I think hes done quite a good job despite the state of the world during his terms. Regardless of my opinions on the man, its the use of moronic arguments against him that I cant stand. If youre going to criticize someone (in a sticker on your car no less), at least use reasoning beyond that of a 6-year-old child.
