Today, I stumbled across a copy of the Board Approved-Personnel Agenda-October 20, 2014. This would be from last nights meeting. This is a five page document. Page two is the page that I found interesting. In the section titled Change of Contract an individual was approved to move from a position as a janitor at one school to a position as a special education teacher at another school with the stipulation that the individual is working under an emergency certificate. This means that individual is not currently certified to teach special education. The person could be in the process of getting the degree or could have agreed to start the process. When I searched tcert.alsde.edu, I was unable to locate a teaching certificate of any kind for this individual. I know there are subs out there that have special education degrees. Could we not hire one of those instead of the janitor?
