Today I thought I would follow up on a post from last week about eating up in your nutrition. Because if you think that the calories in calories out equation can be consciously regulated with will-power and discipline long-term, statistically speaking you would be VERY wrong. Rudy Leibel is the worlds leading expert in obesity and says he has one firm conclusion regarding weight: We dont think body weight can be consciously regulated. It cant. In fact a 70 year old person with 70 pounds of body fat has stored only one peanut per day more than they have burned. No-one can control a process so precise, no-one. Its like trying to increase your oxygen levels by breathing more. Cutting carbs, fats or calories is like trying to hold your breath. The longer you do it, the more your body resists until you finally gasp for air - taking in more than ever to overcome the short-term deficit you induced. There are some very cool advantages to eating regularly and often, increasing your vegetable intake and eating just within your required deficit for fat loss (so not rushing the fat loss process by slashing calories because you really want to be successful this time). It will raise your metabolism, decrease hunger, increase your physical energy, increase pulse rate, increase core temperature and increase the rate of lipolysis (burning of fat for energy).....and the list goes on. All humans have this physiology - there are no exceptions!
