Today I want to wish a happy and thoughtful Eid al-Fitr to Muslims across Michigan. As Muslims come together to reflect on their experiences throughout the holy month of Ramadan, it is important to keep our thoughts and prayers with all those who live along the front lines of conflict in the Middle East, whether it be the sectarian violence in Iraq at the hands of ISIS, civilians in Gaza, or the murder of Syrians at the hands of Bashar al-Assad. It is my sincere wish that this Eid al-Fitr bring forth a greater peace and understanding.
