Today I was invited to be a speaker at the Maine Downtown Centers Annual conference in Waterville, ME. I was part of a discussion of entrepreneurship taking place in Maines Downtowns. Just over a month ago we moved the Bixby & Co. factory to the historic working harbor district of the Rockland Downtown area. Locating into an 100 plus year old ice factory was a conscious decision because we wanted to be part of the vibrant downtown and not located off a highway or in an industrial park. It was exciting to hear about the amazing entrepreneurial efforts and growth of my co-panelists: Loyal Biscuit Co. and Frostys Donuts. We are exciting to bring our chocolate production to Rockland and maintain the historic manufacturing nature of the building we now call home. Kate
