Today I was waiting for my train, and a man next to me tapped me to get my attention. He couldnt speak English very well but heres how the conversation went: Man: Excuse me, what is that bracelet on your wrist? Is it the Uganda flag? Me: Hi there, no its the Palestine flag :) Man: Palestine? Are you from Palestine? Me: No, but my brothers and sisters are...And they are being killed everyday, many innocent human beings. Little children, every day The man looked shocked Man: So you are wearing this bracelet to support them? Me: Yes, to raise awareness of their struggle and help any way I can We both got on the train, the man told me he was from Taiwan and he was here studying. He pointed at my clothing as I was wearing a thobe & scarf Man: So is this your traditional clothing? Me: Its optional, but I like to wear it from time to time, Im on the way to a family members funeral Man: Oh I am very sorry for your loss As we continued talking there was a Mother and baby standing next to us, the baby in the push chair stared and smiled at me and I smiled back. The man was getting off at the next stop, but before he got off he said Man: You are a very nice person, you have a very good spirit. It is very rare to meet people like you Me: Im a Muslim, thats what were all supposed to be like :-) Man: I like Muslims, you are all so friendly Me: Id love to visit Taiwan one day Man: Well you are more than welcome in our country. It was really lovely to meet you We shook hands and he left. The moral of my story is Everybody has within them a light, in Arabic we call it a Noor. Im not saying Im perfect because Im far from it, but when you embody a positive attitude & character your light starts to shine and inspire others around you. So dont dwell in your darkness, the world needs more light. The world needs more of you.
