Today I will share my strong distaste and objection against the white poppy program. The propose of the program is to distribute white poppies as a sign of pacifism and peace. I strongly object to this because it disregards the purpose of Remembrance day and turns it into a protest against the Canada that our Veterans fought for. Furthermore, the money raised by the white poppy pacifists takes away from that made by the Veterans poppy sales that support those who served our country. To those wearing a white poppy I have expressed my opinion, the opinion of the legion and that of the Canadian forces. Those ideological extremists who support the campaign should find another way to express their opinion that doesnt offend or put down others. Even Gandhi supported war to protect peace and civil rights. Dont turn our day of remembrance into an anti-war protest and have some respect for those who gave you freedom.
