Today I wrote my last chapter of how life has been going back and forth to Honolulu to testify in a murder case whereby the defendant is facing the death penalty. This case involves a female juvenile who was 5 years old at the time when she died. Charged were her stepmother who pleaded guilty and received a 20 year sentence. The father of the juvenile female is on trial and is faced with the possibility of facing the death penalty. I happened to be the medical examiner investigator on duty the night the incident happened which involved the juvenile females death. When I testified, it was on behalf of the defense because the defense subpoenaed me. Someone needs to explain ethics to these defense attorneys. They dont care other than getting a fat paycheck. Whether they get their client off or not, they dont care. As I sat on the stand and looked into the eyes of a cold hearted devil, I listened to the questions asked from the defense. I told myself, who the hell are you to ask me these questions. You werent there with the body of this tiny child. I was and I know what I saw. A lifeless little child who didnt deserve this torment from her father and stepmother, who by the way admitted to all the hideous torture they put this child through. So tell me, is it wrong for me to have this deep seeded frustration that if I were to see the father in the streets that I could reach over and tear his throat out. As it was reported in the news, they tortured her, crack her bones, and made her eat her on feces. Please forgive me. Is this justice to have many be put on hold just to explain ones investigative actions such as myself and what I had to do? What about the little girl? I believe we all have to be her voice. What do you think? Mahalo to my friends and family for inspiring me to push on and to be patient so justice could be serve. Remember, I was just a small part of a bigger investigation. But nevertheless, a part of the investigation.
