Today Joshua had his yearly check-up at the North Carolina Cancer Hospital in Chapel Hill. Five years ago today, Joshua received a Stem Cell Transplant receiving over 6 million stem cells that they had previously harvested from him. In my journal entry from that day (linked below), I wrote, One of the most influential writers of Ancient Greece, Sophocles, wrote, “One word frees us all of the weight and pain of life: that word is love.” Truly Joshua’s journey is a testament to this statement. Joshua has been spared much pain and worry because he has been awash in love. Please hear a daddy’s heart when I simply say, “Thank you for loving my son!” As Joshua prepares to return to Auburn University for the Spring Semester, we pause on this anniversary to thank God again for shepherding Joshua through cancer twice and to again proclaim, God is good, to him be the glory!
