Today, Monday September 8th, there were two separate incidents involving police investigations that impacted some FUSD schools. There was a crime last night on Route 66 and subsequent police activity looking for the subject until late this morning. Schools in the area were in a soft lockdown as a precaution for the safety and security of the students and staff. Mount Elden Middle School was also under a soft lockdown. This morning MEMS was alerted that there were some dangerous items found in a truck that was parked on campus early this morning for a 10 minute student drop off. The police were alerted, and the students were kept secure in their classrooms while the police investigated and searched the exterior of the school. In this case the students were kept in their first period class for a few hours to keep the movement throughout the school to a minimum while there was a security sweep of the building by administration and a police investigation outside. By early afternoon the situation was resolved to the satisfaction of the police and school administration and school resumed its regular schedule.
