Today Nation paid homage to its beloved leader Sardar Vallabhbhai - TopicsExpress

Today Nation paid homage to its beloved leader Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel popularly known as Iron Man to fellow citizens on his birth anniversary. 31Oct from now onwards shall be known as National Unity Day. There is no equivalence to this commemoration, as unity/integration is what Sardar Patel worked tirelessly for during and post independence and shaped the country which we very proudly call Bharat. Its important to point out that Loh Purush successfuly merged over 540 princely states in the Union of India through wide consultations reflecting his statesmanship and brilliance. Not a single shot was fired in this over two months integration exercise of these princely states except in a state of Hyderabad where roughly 10 soldiers of Indian Army died. Now if we compare associated violence during the integration of erstwhile German speaking and Italian provinces in respective countries, the grit and vision of Sarad Patel is self evident. Never ever in the history such a peacefull integration of boundaries exist on a wider scale and that too in a country as diverse as India. I was part of the National Unity Run flaaged off by Honble PM Narendra Modi ji today in the morning. He made a very important point that: Let us not divide the history, legacy in the narrow confines of ideology. There must be no two opinion regarding this and we Indians must understand the importance of Nation building, a Nation which carries the legacy of greats like Sardar Patel. This mark of solidarity was long overdue to Sardar Patel. I was overwhelmed to see the enthausiasm of crowd in todays National Unity Run. Later on I participated in an event organised at Ramjas School, New Delhi. Students of the school displayed spectacular March Past a perfect show of camaraderie as a mark of solidarity on 1st National Unity Day of 67 year old Republic of India whose chief architect is none other than, one and only one Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
