Today! The First Gala Fundraiser for the Maurice D. Hinchey Catskills Interpretive Center!!! 5:30pm @ The Ashokan Center off Beaverkill Road. CATSKILL GATEWAY GALA! Located on a 62-acre site on Route 28 in Mount Tremper, the MDH Catskills Interpretive Center will be the first information center dedicated to the Catskill Park. It will serve as a “gateway” for tourists and residents alike—providing comprehensive information on outdoor recreation, cultural activities, and tourist facilities in the Catskills, as well as natural history interpretation and Forest Preserve information. Maurice introduced legislation for this more than 30 years ago and has been its main champion since then. Thanks to The Catskill Center, the Friends of the Catskill Interpretive Center, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and many other Catskill Region organizations for partnering to develop and manage the Interpretive Center. Groundbreaking is planned for later this year.
