Today as I got in my car to leave the gas station after speaking to two people, I realized that I was happy. Truly happy. I realized that I was looking people in the eye and speaking to them and smiling and laughing with them, complete strangers. I can still remember their smiles and what they had said. I realized at that moment that I had smiled and laughed all day up to that point and I remembered the people I saw. Ive been in such a rush during my life that I had forgotten to look at people and listen to them and converse and smile at them. To the two men at the gas station... My coat was at home thank you for caring and thank you for the smiles and the wave as you left. To my patients... Thank you for trusting me with your memories and for making me feel special. I hope I have more days like this.
