Today at work, a customer asked me what I do. When I replied Im an actor the reply I got was an instant loss of eye contact, a snort and a simple why?. For a while, I did wonder why. I wondered why I bothered. I felt so disheartened and instantly judged. I spent the rest of the afternoon daydreaming and wondering about all the things I could physically possess, house, car, business, if I were to stop acting. I later picked up a script and some of my old acting notes and started to read through. When reading my old notes, my whole body broke out in goosebumps. My old notes that are hardly readable because I wrote them is such a bout of passion that its basically just scribble on a page. To the man that questioned me, THAT is WHY I act. Because its not about what I could possess, its not about how successful I could be, its because I couldnt imagine my life doing anything else. Because regardless of what I owned, id be neglecting that one thing that makes my heart beat fast. Essay over.
