Today in 2001 Rhapsody Of Fire released the album Rain of A Thousand Flames Trieste, Friuli-Venezia Giulia,Italy Symphonic/Orchestral Power Metal Status:Active Years active: 1993-1995 (as Thundercross), 1995-2006 (as Rhapsody), 2006-present Rhapsody of Fire is the new name of Italian symphonic power metal band Rhapsody. The name change was announced on July 14th, 2006. Read the following statement made by the webmaster: Due to copyright and trademark issues the band formerly known as Rhapsody has changed its name. The band members consider this a great new start, reflecting the emboldened and increasingly grandiose direction that their music has taken. “The power of the dragonflame will burn brighter than ever before,” says guitarist/songwriter Luca Turilli. Keyboardist/songwriter Alex Staropoli adds, “The name Rhapsody Of Fire better represents the energy that has always been present in this band and its music.” With a new record company in Magic Circle Music, a new tour planned and a new album on the way, Rhapsody Of Fire will continue to explore musical fantasy worlds with the precision musicianship and unique symphonic concepts that their fans have come to expect and adore. Fresh on the heels of the band’s first live album release, Live In Canada 2005 - The Dark Secret, a new name and renewed vigor ensure that Rhapsody Of Fire still hold the passion and power that have always been associated with their music. Its confirmed that they will releasing an album on March 5, 2010, called The Frozen Tears of Angels. It is the first album to be released after a long hiatus, caused by a legal dispute with the bands previous label, Magic Circle Music. An EP, The Cold Embrace of Fear, was released later the same year. In 2011 Rhapsody of Fire released From Chaos to Eternity, thus completing their conceptual fantasy saga. The album was branded as being the last release to feature a fantasy storyline and Christopher Lees narration. Following the release of the album the band announced that founding member Luca Turilli, along with bassist Patrice Guers, would be leaving the band to start a new band as Rhapsody, the bands original name, while Alex Staropoli would continue with a new Rhapsody of Fire line-up. Alex Holzwarth is listed as the drummer but did not contribute to the recordings. This album was also released in a limited edition gatefold digipack, with the Rain of a Thousand Flames (video version) as bonus track. Queen of the Dark Horizons is based on the main theme of the horror picture Phenomena, by the Italian 70s prog rock band Goblin, Elnors Magic Valley is based on the Irish traditional song Cooleys Reel and The Wizards Last Rhymes is based on the New World Symphony composed by Antonin Dvorak. It tells a part of The Emerald Sword Saga, but it is a parallel episode that is not essential to the story, taking place shortly after Dawn of Victory. While the Warrior of Ice is away, Akron uses the newly acquired Emerald Sword to ravage the land.
