Today in Anthropology we watched a documentary about a group of orphan boys from south Sudan who walked 1,000 miles to Kenya without food or water to be free. It took them 5 years, and out of the 27,000 that started, 15,000 of them died. Some of them eventually made it to America, and the looks on their faces were priceless. It was incredible how they were so amazed by the smallest things; electricity, packaged food, running water. It really put things in perspective and made me realize just how much I have to be grateful for. Im in college in the US, I have food to eat, a roof over my head, and family and friends who care about me. Sometimes we forget just how lucky we are and how many things life gives us to smile about. Its amazing how a little perspective and gratefulness can take your moments where you feel alone and poor, and make you feel like a millionaire.
