Today in history On Oct. 29, 1682, William Penn landed at what now is Pennsylvania. In 1863, an international convention took place in Geneva to make a permanent organization to help war victims. In 2008, Delta Airlines merged with Northwest, creating the worlds largest airline, and in a 3-inning game, the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Tampa Bay Rays to claim their second World Series championship.
