Today is a sweet and special day of miracles. My oldest daughter marks her 11th year; her grandma, my mom, is her guardian angel who cuddled and loved her in heaven until the time of her birth. Sometimes I imagine the two of them, perched atop a cloud, chatting about life on earth in the space between my moms last breath and my sweet daughters first. During my moms time on earth, she loved penguins. Since making her transition, she sends the flightless birds in the funniest of ways: bumper stickers, stuffed animals, billboards, signs. But today, she stuck it to me. After opening a few gifts, friends attending, enthusiasm high, my daughter stubbed her toe. She requested a bandage, and I blindly grabbed a random wound cover. As I peeled back the paper, I saw not just a latex strip, but a hug from heaven: the bandage was decorated in penguin pattern! My heart swelled and my eyes teared. Happy birthday from Heaven. Love lives! Birth, death, holding on, letting go. Change. But, Love is changeless, life cannot end. Love lives. Blessings to you, Steff
