Today is also Saint Stephens day, celebrating the life of Stephen, a deacon in the early church in Jerusalem who really ticked off the Jewish authorities by his teachings...at his trial for blasphemy he gave a long speech denouncing the corruption of the Jewish church leaders and was stoned to death...his death was witnessed by a man named Saul of Tarsus, a Pharisee who would later himself become a follower of Jesus and an apostle under the name Paul. Stephen is considered to be first martyr of Christianity...
