Today, is light Sunday for me. I digressed a bit from my usual quasi-historical know-how ( I am not a historian, huh... I am more of a joker, ha ha ha.... Today, I relished from my You Tube, past recipients of awards either from the Academy 0f Movie Arts and Sciences or the From the Kennedy Centers tribute to the hollywood stars, artists and celebrities. I was all focused, concentrated by the way these people conduct themselves. There were tributes for Angela Lansbury (Murder She Wrote); Julie Andrews (Mary Poppins, Victoria, My Fair Lady, Star, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Sound of Music); James Cagney (A Window with a View); Sir Sean Connery (James Bond), Bette Davis (Whatever Happened to Baby Jane); and Deborah Kerr, (The King and I, Quo Vadis, An Affair to Remember), among others. there are many who are my favorites. What I like most in the Awards and Tributes are the ACCEPTANCE SPEECHES,, that these people gave. I find them so poignant, with humility and candor, so professional and ethical. And the audience which I am also keen at watching because the celebrities are there....seated, are so appreciative (standing ovation at that), happy for the receiver. For instance, one sample.....When Deborah Kerr went up the stage (she was assisted as she was rather frail already), to receive her life time achievement award....she said.... with tears in her eyes... still regal and beautiful.... I have not been so frightened until this evening, to receive this award...but now, as I stand before you....I feel very comfortable, because I know I am among friends...... I felt to touched, for this illustrious lady to humbly deliver such a simple but pointblank message that poked ones sensibilities. And the presentors, they are equally admirable like Gregory Peck, Peter Ustinov, Jeremy Irons, Bob Hope, Anne Bankcropt, etc. When they introduced the nominee, they usually include some anecdotes, quotes from these wonderful people. Every thing is done so formal, with a touch of class, elegant, avec finise, yet seemingly personalized and customized. He he ako kaha, kamao ba kaha ko mointroduce pariha ni Bob Hope ug Jack Lemmon, etc. Sus ako jud practison oi.....Basin ug moingon ko (kay Bisaya lagi)... and di winir is Lidis an Gintilmin, Gud eybneng... he he he what a disaster, he he he alegre sii.....aw se-e.....
