Today is my dads birthday. Tomorrow is my moms. I still love the holiday season but nowadays I do so with conflicting emotions; warmth and sadness. For years, the holidays, from Thanksgiving to New Years, was centered around Mom. Thanksgiving was my favorite day to spend with her. Id sleep over at her place and wed cook around the clock. A few days later wed celebrate her birthday at the restaurant of her choosing. (Shed choose the same thing each year: sushi.) And before youd know it, it was Christmas & New Years -- both days wed spend together in the kitchen. So while I still love the holidays, things are different. I guess what Im saying is, I miss my mom.
