Today marks 34 weeks. Making it to 34 weeks in the pregnancy - TopicsExpress

Today marks 34 weeks. Making it to 34 weeks in the pregnancy without any signs of heart failure was one of our goals during the last 7 weeks. I guess he was coming, ready or not :) . Today was another great day. Malin got rid of his UV lamp, as he no longer needs it. Much nicer for me too as there isnt much face visible with the aviators protecting his little eyes. He had the umbilical venous line taken out of his belly button. It will be interesting to see what it looks like when it heals up as he wasnt clamped like most bubs. He came off his heart meds yesterday and the ecg they did after shows better heart function, which is wonderful. His breathing is still a bit high and not as easy as it could be, but one side of his heart is working harder than the other, hopefully that should settle soon. He came off the antibiotics, which is huge as infection is such an enormous risk of his surgery. A few days ago, Id have got upset at him needing another iv line in and his nutrients increasing as his blood sugar is a bit low, but it is pretty minor in comparison to everything else. And so long as it is two (or 200) steps forward, before the one step back, Im managing pretty well on this roller coaster. Occasionally I get a brief glimpse of him with minimal stuff around his face. I cant wait for the day that there are no attachments. We had some beautiful cuddles today, the best so far He even had a feed while cuddling for the first time. After a couple of hours of cuddles, he went back on the bed, and decided to open his eyes for the first time. Theyve been too swollen up to now, and it is almost like he realised that it wasnt an impossible challenge any more. It was amazing, being able to look in to his eyes as he started taking in the world for the first time.
