Today marks the start of the Holiday Shopping Season! Check out tips from President Lisa Paminutan to reduce your stress this Holiday Season! Holiday Stress Relief Tips: 1. Massage or Acupuncture Treat your body to a massage or acupuncture treatment – both are incredibly effective in relieving tension and stress. Acupressure is also a great way to relieve stress; it combines the pressure points of acupuncture with the pressure of a massage. Quick Tip: place pressure on the “web” between your thumb and forefinger for a calming affect 2. Aroma Therapy The calming scent of lavender can help to sooth the body and mind. Use scented candles, diffusers, or sprays. Keeping a small jar of lavender oil in your purse or at your desk can help provide relief during particularly stressful moments. 3. Herbal Teas and Peppermint Indulge in herbal teas made with chamomile or ginger – both ingredients have shown to reinforce feelings of calmness. Peppermint is known to help relieve migraine and headaches – just another reason to keep a candy cane handy! 4. Breathing Meditation and Yoga Deep breathing is a simple, yet powerful, relaxation technique. It’s easy to learn, can be practiced almost anywhere, and provides a quick way to get your stress levels in check. Deep breathing is the cornerstone of many other relaxation practices, too, and can be combined with other relaxing elements such as aromatherapy and yoga. Yoga is a great way to reduce anxiety and stress, and it can also improve flexibility, strength, balance, and stamina. Practiced regularly, it can also strengthen the relaxation response in your daily life. 5. Music Listening to your favorite holiday music can evoke positive memories and feelings of joy. It’s hard to feel stressed when listening to Frosty the Snowman!
