Today my family returned to the wonderful place I called home as a little girl, It was a yard that was filled with fruit trees, apple, pear, plum, fig and also wild berries, wild strawberries, black walnut, and pecan; we spent our summers playing barefoot in the dirt as me and my aunts drew out our house plans and made mud pies. Summer was also the time for canning; we cut up okra, shelled peas, picked figs, cleaned may haws... and watched anxiously as my grandmother made jelly and perserves; I spent many days eating delicious foods from a kitchen that seemed to never run out of food, played games that I dreamed up instead of games fashioned from a series of electrical images. Fridays were always clean the house thoroughly day... ( meaning we would spend hours sweeping, moping, cleaning baseboards and dusting. Some of the best times in my life were spent enjoying the Love of my Grandmother Mrs. Ruth Dupree, and listening to my Great Grandmother Mrs. Ardie Joseph sit on the gallery (porch) and Pray for her children, grandchildren and all who crossed her doorstep. I was Blessed then... and I am Blessed now... I have known the Love of a Wonderful Great Grandmother, Grandmother, Mother, Aunts, Uncles and cousins... There is NOTHING in this world that I could ever think of that meant more to me than this. I just want to say parents, maybe you can not give your child the latest shoes, or even provide them the oldest video game... but I can honestly say when I look back over my childhood the thing that meant the most to me was the LOVE OF MY FAMILY .... I AM LOVED
