Today, on Kansas City Live, we welcome actor/comedian Tony Rock. He happens to have a rather well-known brother named Chris Rock. I can sort-of relate, as can many of you who grew up in small towns. My older...much, much, much older...brothers are all famous in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin. My oldest brother, Randy-the guy in the middle of both photos, went to state in wrestling and always smelled like oranges. He ate a lot of them to meet his weight for wrestling. Randy was the drum major for the marching band, too. Craig (on the right) and Mark (on the left) were in a band called Whats New. They played Tijuana Brass music. They were in parades and played at a resort and recorded an album. All three of these guys excelled. Funny. Good grades. Homecoming court. By the time I came along...did I mention they are much, much, much older?...the bar was set pretty high. I had only one thing to do! Would I strive to do better, bigger things? Make my own name? Impress the teachers and town with my talents and abilities? As I said, the bar was very high. So, I did what I had to do! I walked under it.
