Today on the World Famous Jungle Cruise I had my first boat load - TopicsExpress

Today on the World Famous Jungle Cruise I had my first boat load of 100% non-English speakers. Being a performer its hard to be on a boat for ten minutes performing and getting no reaction because the people you are performing to understand little of what you are saying. Needless to say, I was not to happy with getting this boat load. By the time I got to the temple I was a little bit over this boat and I was just ready to get back to the unload dock. There was a little boy sitting directly next to me so I asked him if he wanted to drive the boat for the rest of the time and I motioned for him to take the wheel. He shook his head no. His sister, who looked about eight or nine, instantly lit up and asked (in broken English) if she could drive. I showed her to the wheel. She told me her name was Helena and she very enthusiastically drove the boat all the way to the dock while she giggled the entire time. I parked the boat and as everyone was unloading I gave Helena a Skipper license and thanked her for helping me. I turned my back as everyone was exiting and she came back to me and said (in the best English she could), Wait! You forgot your Christmas gift! And she gave me a big hug. So this is a quick reminder to never judge too soon and to remember how many people we can make real magic for everyday. She made as much magic for me as I think I made for her because she reminded me why I do this. Its easy to get cynical and jaded, especially with things like tour groups and people that its hard to communicate with, and Ive been a victim to that. But we still have the power to make a hell of a lot of magic everyday if we want to. And I would like to thank Helena for reminding me of that.
