Today, the 17th of Ramadan, is the day the Messenger of Allah fought the Battle of the Badr. This was the first battle in Islam. The Prophet fought against those who wanted to prevent the message of One God to be spread. The verses of Badr are in Surah Anfal (Chapter 8) of the Holy Quran. May Allah be pleased with the Companions, who sacrificed their wealth and their lives, so we can practice Islam. [Quran 5:2] Certainly, the believers are those whose hearts are filled with awe when (the name of) Allah is mentioned; and when His verses are recited to them, it makes them more developed in faith; and in their Lord they place their trust.
