Today, the 2nd of February, marks the seventy-first anniversary of the most important day, the most defining event of the 20th century- the victory for the Red Army under Joseph Stalin against the Nazis in the epic, unparalleled Battle of Stalingrad that signaled the impending downfall of Hitler and the fascist forces. Had the Red Army lost, the resulting consequences across the countries around the world would have been horrific beyond ones wildest imagination. But the struggle against the brutal right wing fundamentalism is far from over. Presently living in a bleak spectrum of politics in ones own intellectual periphery and cultural confinement and in an increasingly disturbing environment, the least a person can do is to remember this eponymous event with an insightful reading with respect to his or her own existence. # The Battle of Stalingrad Hey ! They are coming, riding on their tanks Crumpling the wheat fields, coming in gangs They must not go back from where theyve been Since we will fight them under Stalin. Hey ! They surrounded us with heavy artillery Burnt our orchards, burnt fairies They must die here with scattered head and spleen Since we will fight them under Stalin. Hey ! They are coming to ruin our children To ruin our water, to ruin our grain They must not go back from where theyve been Since we will fight them under Stalin. listverse/2012/09/17/top-10-facts-about-the-battle-of-stalingrad/
