Today the Taliban released an official statement on the “12th year of the American invasion” of Afghanistan. The statement, which was emailed to The Long War Journal by spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, is reproduced in full below. The statement contains the standard fare of Taliban propaganda, but notably, and not surprisingly, fails to mention the reason for the US invasion of Afghanistan: the fact that al Qaeda’s 9/11 attack on America was launched from Afghanistan.
