Today, the text of the fragment of the Gospel of St. Matthew we - TopicsExpress

Today, the text of the fragment of the Gospel of St. Matthew we find multiple lessons. I will limit myself to highlight one, the one that refers to the absolute power of God in history: whether it be that of the whole of mankind (humanity) and each and every human groups (in our case, for example, the familiar group zebedees), or that of each individual person. This is why Jesus told them plainly, You do not know what you ask (Mt 20,22). They will sit at the right hand of Jesus Christ those for whom these places are allocated by the Father: As to sit at my right and to my left is not mine to give; there are those for whom these places are prepared by my Father (Mt 20,23). As clear as that, and as you hear it. In fact, in Spanish we say: The leaf of the tree falls without the will of the Lord. And it is like that because God is God. You could also say the opposite: if it was not like that, God would not be God. Given this fact, which inevitably overlaps any human conditioning, we are left to men, in principle, acceptance and adoration (because God has revealed himself as the Absolute); trust and love when we walk (because God has revealed, both as Father); and, after all ... whats largest and definitive: sit beside Jesus (whether right or left, no matter, ultimately). We can not solve the mystery of election and predestination God with confidence on our part. One milligram of trust placed on the heart of God is worth more than all the weight of the world laid on our poor little balance pan. In fact, Saint Jacques did not survive long. From the beginning, it was burning fervor, and his extraordinary disregard for human interests, he rose to such a height that it was immediately put to death (St. John Chrysostom).
