Today was one of the most physically exhausting days of my life. Jackie, Lin, Mr. Pet and I, moved 8 tons of coffee, TWICE. Due to mud, we had to load the coffee first into the back of the truck and then take it out to the main road where we had to load it the second time into the container. Amidst the lower back agony, I lifted one of the very last 60kg coffee bags and had a instantaneous realization that I shared with Jackie. I will never be able to sit in a cafe in America and have a cup of coffee like I did before coming to Laos. For I now fully understand the life of a coffee bean and all the incredible back breaking work and love that farmers put into each harvest. In just over a month, Jhai specialty, organic coffee will be landing in Fort Bragg, California, where Thanksgiving Coffee Company calls home. We are beyond honored to be partnering with such an incredible company who has both coffee wisdom and social responsibility mastered.
