Today was the best training Ive had post surgery. Fueled up from watching the PL meet yesterday, I hit the gym with a lot of focus. Since Im unable to hold a barbell in a high/low bar position, Ive only squatting on specialty bars (the one movement I can take heavy). Heres a compiled video of todays best work: Camber Bar Squats: 480 PR, 500 lifetime PR, 510 lifetime PR. Squats have been a huge weakness of mine for a long time. Switching to a flat shoe (LOVE the Reebok Trainer Lites) and focusing on controlling my descent has done incredible things for my stability and chest position. I still tend to get rolled forward a bit coming out of the hole, but this is still substantial progress. I need to squat it in a meet, but training wise Im finally in the 500+ club. The camber bar is not a forgiving one either. Box Depth Jump Series (5 sets, not positive on height): 24, 36-38, 16, 48. 40 Hurdle Depth Jump Series (until I smashed my parts in to the second hurdle): First time doing these, and substantially more difficult in terms of footwork than working on boxes. Moving 250 pounds over hurdle depth jumps is not an easy feat, chickened out and split the 4th. I also did some overload work with SSB high box squats and some SSB volume pause squat sets as well. All in all, a pretty awesome day.
