Today we attended a hearing to determine the outcome of the dog attack on our property. In the end, the owner will pay a significant sum in fines and restitution. The male dog was euthanized prior to the hearing and the female dog has crippling injuries, so she was sent out of state to a family members that is more equipped to care for her. The owner is forced to surrender custody of the involved puppy and his new owners will be required to keep him leashed when outside and keep him away from livestock. Its a sad situation and in the end, no one wins, but the women involved finally have closure and can begin to find peace. Alissa wrote eloquently about forgiveness and I believe thats the first step in healing and moving on. Im grateful that we can close this chapter and focus again on the happy memories that we experience and create together every day. Thank you to all for your concern during the last few weeks. The greatest gift that Horse Sense has brought to me has been the friendship, kindness, love and support of all of our students and families. The horses and I are so lucky to have you all in our lives.
