Today we put to rest a Giant. Its remarkable the things you learn about someone you thought you knew after theyre gone. Who they were. How they came to be the person they were. The devastatingly true complexity of our existence and how totally and completely fragile it is. It can be overwhelming. Steve was impossibly bright. Steve was young even when he was older. Steve was amazing. Steve was troubled and angry. Steve was sick. He taught me so very very much. He was integral in the lives of so many many beautiful people. He was a tower of a man. The world dealt him a cosmically shitty hand later on. He rode with it as far as he could. Theres a deep sorrow in losing such a righteous dude. If anything, Im going to try to live like the Steve Rich I remember. The larger than life, selfless, monster guitar player and teacher that was a more of a friend to me than anyone when I had none. Rest in Peace, my man. Well all be struggling with this one for a long time. But you dont have to any more, boss. Julia Barsimanto-Rich... what can I say, mama... Were family. Always will be. Youre amazing. So glad we had the time with that man that we did. Ill never be the same from having met him. I am eternally grateful. Go Giant.
