Today we want to take a quick second to apologize for the tone of our editorial yesterday, about the teachers labour dispute. While we maintain that we always have a right to, and occasionally will write an editorial on current events - as newspapers, television, radio and other media have for as long as their respective existence - we do know that it touched a very sensitive nerve with many of our fans. And looking back, we know the tone of the piece was not favourable to those that support the teacher side in the dispute. We do want to point out that the item was not anti-teacher or teacher bashing, but was simply pointing out the fact that teachers had chosen this time of the year, over others, to carry out disruptive job action. We took no stance on the contract demands of the teachers, or the government position on the issue. In retrospect though, we realize we took a misstep. Our wading into a sensitive labour dispute at this critical point served no purpose to either side. For that, we make this apology to all our 26,000+ fans here, to our our 10,200+ twitter followers, and to each and every local business that we work hard to promote every single day.
