Today, wed like to bring you the story of one of our valued volunteers! Ian Hazlehurst has been volunteering at Age UK Hoylake 3 times a week for the last three years! After Ians own retail business closed in early 2011, he didnt want to just sit around so he got in contact with his local Age UK and asked if they needed any help. Ian has now clocked up over 370 afternoons at Age UK Hoylake! My retail experience helped me to fit in at Age UK operating the till, interacting with the customers and stock control came as second nature to me. I love the opportunity to expand my skill base and Ive made lots of new friends too! Every year, Ian and his wife Jo also get involved in the Big Knit making at least 50 hats, but often more, for the campaign. When he’s not volunteering for Age UK then you might find him at his allotment where he also keeps rehomed chickens.
